How a split AC works and what fails
The indoor unit blows room air across a cold coil; the outdoor unit rejects that heat and houses the compressor. The two are joined by refrigerant pipes and a drain.
Most split faults are predictable: refrigerant leaks (weak cooling), fouled coils (weak airflow, high bills), a failed run capacitor (fan or compressor won't start), or a blocked drain (water leak). All are routine repairs for us.
